"Upstate Cerebral Palsy is a premier provider of direct-care services and programs for individuals who are physically, developmentally or mentally challenged and their families."
Bonacci Architects, pllc has designed several facilites for Upstate Cerebral Palsy on two of their campuses. The most recent was the design of facilites in Rome, New York that combines preschool, daycare, educational, residential and professional training on one campus in the Griffiss Business and Technology park. Designing facilities that permit sharing of common services but separation of the multiple uses was one of the major challenges in developing the buildings and groundsat the Rome Campus. The site design was carefully planned to permit access to the building by the different groups being served. Public and professional visitors use the clear main entrance with welcoming lobby. On site residential students approach the building via walkways that do not cross roads. Other students arrive at the drop off lane and entrance designed for busses from school districts. Preschool/ Daycare students and parents have a dedicated drop off and access to their wing of the building. The buiding design enables health care and administrative staff to serve preschool and school aged populations while keeping the two age groups separated from each other. Training spaces for UCP staff and professionals from other organizations are in the same building, accessible to the administrators, but away from the students.
