Utica NY
This new Fleet Maintenance Facility for the Utica Police Department was completed in 2005 and comprised the first phase of the City of Utica's multi-phase project for the redevelopment of its downtown Public Safety Campus. The 9,550 SF steel frame, split-face masonry cavity wall structure provides 6 automotives maintenance bays including three equipped with hydraulic lifts. Other accommodations include a main office, small parts room, wash bay, body-prep bay and paint spray booth as well as secure storage for vehicular evidence, police motorcycles, and speed trailers. In addition to staff toilet, locker and break room, the second floor provides 1,400 SF of mezzanine space for storage of larger car parts.
A noteworthy architectural feature of the building is its distinctive EIFS-clad superstructure and clerestory glazing which contribute positively to both the quality of the work environment and energy efficiency through the use of day lighting.
Another unique feature of the building is the small glass-front showroom that has been configured along the main thoroughfare for display of some of the Police Department's highly prized vintage law enforcement vehicles
